As you reach the mid-way point in 2008, where are you in reaching
your year-end goals and objectives? When was the last time you reviewed
your company and/or department goals or assessed your success so far?
With all the initial enthusiasm, keeping yourself motivated, committed,
and moving toward the accomplishment of your goals is often tough.
No matter what the goal is, in order to achieve success, it’s best to
have your goals written down and a plan in place to check progress
regularly. The lack of frequency with which progress and success are
measured and tracked directly relates to the likeliness of you achieving your
goals and objectives.
By keeping your objectives in front of you and assessing them weekly
and/or daily, you will be better equipped to quickly identify and
eliminate obstacles that could hinder your success. After all, if you
don’t know where you are or what you hope to accomplish, you will not
know how to get to the end result.
Maybe you are hoping to get a promotion this year, change careers, or
develop your leadership skills. What obstacles are currently prohibiting
you from making this happen? Consider the resources and partnerships you
have around you to help you reach your goals, determine what needs to be
done, and take action.
