When you are making a decision to hire a staffing service, do you really know the commitment you have made? You have made a commitment to work with a team to find your next top talent.
As your account manager, my job is to be your partner to find your company’s next rock star. During the process we will be talking about positions that you are looking to fill. Sometimes these positions are empty due to someone leaving the organization and sometimes they are newly-created positions. Regardless of the reason, I need to know the details and ins and outs of the position as well as the skills set and personality you are looking for. The details include everything down to the days and hours a potential candidate will be working. These little things may seem trivial but they can mean a match or not in the end. I never want to present someone who can’t work Mondays, if in your new role, they are required to work 10 hours on Mondays because that is your most productive day.
During our entire partnership, I need a commitment from you to be open and honest at all times. There is no such thing as “TOO MUCH INFORMATION” with me! I expect you to give us as much information as possible at the beginning to get recruiting efforts off the ground and headed in the right direction. My team will be talking to numerous candidates regarding their background and taking them through a multi-step interview process. These candidates will not be presented to you until we have made a commitment to represent them and have spoken to them about your specific position. This is a key differentiator with Celebrity Staff. We believe presenting a resume without first talking to a candidate about the job doesn’t do anyone any good. Again, you have made a commitment with us to identify top talent, not push you resumes.
To make this partnership and placement within your organization a success, I need continued communication. I take much of the ruffling through resumes and initial screening off your plate so it is critical that you continue to communicate with me. Not returning calls or emails once you make the commitment to have me find your next top talent does not help facilitate a successful placement. I may have new updates for you or new questions I need to ask to better sell your position. The more we stay in touch, the better we will both feel about the placement in the end.
Once a candidate interviews with you, I need your feedback right away. I need to know if I have hit the mark and found what you are looking for or if I’ve missed it by six football fields. You are not going to hurt my feelings by telling me something that you may not have liked. If you feel like they didn’t have good enough eye contact, tell me. I can screen harder for that next time. If you feel that they are too meek, great. I will screen for a different personality completely. Personality is everything and hard to match compared to skills. Candidates may have similar skills but the deciding factor is often which candidate’s personality you like best and how they will fit in with the rest of your team.
Most experienced staffing firms work on a contingent basis and therefore only get paid if there is a successful match. You need the position filled and I want to help you fill it with someone who you will love. My goal is to build a strong working relationship with all of my clients. Trust is developed over time, but good communication up front always helps to avoid pitfalls in the end. Would you ever send your 17-year-old child to the grocery store to get items for a gourmet meal without sending a detailed list with them?Seems simple, right?
