The Healthy Families Act (HFA) has been introduced in both the House (H.R.2460) and Senate (S.1152). Sponsored by Representative Rosa DeLauro (D-CT) and Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA), the bill would require employers to provide employees with up to 56 hours of paid sick leave. Read more here.
The U.S. Department of Labor reminds employers and employees that the federal minimum wage increased to $7.25 on Friday, July 24. With this change, employees who are covered by the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) are entitled to pay no less than $7.25 per hour. Read more here.
